Take a trip to another world, a land of ice and fire! With your Crew and guides, you’ll adventure for 7 days along the Laugaveger & Fimmvorduhals Trails - ranked in the top ten most beautiful in the whole world - over volcanoes & through lava fields, past glaciers and geysers.

Day 1-3: Arrive in Reykjavik, meet team, and set up home for a few days at a camping youth hostel near city center. From here, we’ll explore Reykjavik for a day taking in the arts, history and authentic Icelandic cuisine - a fantastic introduction to the culture of this Nordic island nation. Even though it’s “summer” you’ll be happy to end the day warming up in a geothermal pool.

Day 4-5: We spend a day river rafting the Class 2 Hvítá river with qualified guides and end with a whale watching tour in the fjords around the city. The day before our trek, you prepare for the backcountry with a morning day hike and afternoon of meal planning and prepping our meal kits and snacks for the trek.

Day 6 - 7: You travel with your team by bus for a few hours north into the wilderness and miles of mossy tundra. Excitement builds as you round on dirt roads further and further into the backcountry, finally arriving at our “Basecamp” of the Laugavegur Trail: Landmannaulagar. Framed by rainbow rhyolite mountains, this small adventure town is buzzing with campers and day hikers. We spend the first few day here enjoying a day hike along the colorful ridges, admiring the other worldly views of this area. Evenings are spent watching the midnight sun set for a few hours from the steaming hot springs near the campsite.

Day 8 - 10: We trek from Landmannaulagar to Thorsmork - hiking 7-10 miles each day. We cross cooled lava fields, steaming geysers, see roaming sheep herds and wild horses, cross glaciers, and encounter some of the rarest mountain terrain in the world. Each night, we pitch our tent at a campsite with other trekkers, cook our well earned dinners, and rest heavy. Thorsmork marks the end of the Laugavegur Trail and the start of the Fimmvorduhals Trail.

Day 10-12: Merging into the Fimmvorduhals Trail (or Waterfall Trail) you tackle the hardest day ascending on steep inclines through an amazing section of mountains. We celebrate our climb with some hilarious sleeping pad sledding along a glacier, before reaching a welcome A-frame hut along a windy mountain summit. We rest warm and set out the next morning trying to count the seemingly countless waterfalls as we descend towards the coast. Our trek ends at the epic Skógafoss waterfall. We take a hard-earned and sweaty photo at the base, only getting a little drenched.

Day 13-14: After spending our last night in Vik, exploring the wild beaches and ice climbing along Europe’s largest glacier, we bus back to Rekyjavik. From here, we say goodbyes to friends and teammates with whom we’ve shared such beautiful memories.
